Hyderabad: CID on Tuesday took Andhra Pradesh Former Minister and founder of Narayana Educational Institutions K Narayana Rao into custody. CID officials arrested the former minister from his Kondapur residence in Hyderabad. The police initially detained him in connection with the leakage of SSC board exam question papers. Along with Narayana, his wife was also taken into custody.

A series of question papers were leaked during the commencement of SSC examinations in the last academic year in Andhra Pradesh. At a recent function in Tirupati, CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that the reason for this was Narayana and Sri Chaitanya educational institutions.

TDP Leader Atchannaidu Calls Narayana Rao Arrest Illegal

Former Minister and TDP leader Kinjarapu Atchannaidu said the illegal arrests were made to divert attention from Jagan Reddy's incompetent rule. During the three-year reign, CM Jagan gave priority to orthodoxy, claimed the former minister.

The TDP leader further accused the ruling YSRCP govt of making illegal arrests and detentions. He said the former minister was treated arbitrarily without any notice. He was outraged that Jagan's diversionary politics was meant to sideline the growing popularity of opposition in the state.

"When the education ministry has denounced the leakage of question papers, how can Narayana be arrested?" Atchannaidu questioned, as quoted by ABP Desam.

According to the report, TDP leaders have tried to stop Narayana Rao's arrest but couldn't do it. Meanwhile, TDP leaders have decided to file a bail plea for Narayana Rao in Chittoor court.
