A doctor and his two children were killed in a fire that broke out at a newly constructed private hospital at Renigunta in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district on Sunday. Dr Ravishankar Reddy and his son, Bharat and daughter, Kartika lost their lives. His wife Dr Ananta Lakshmi and mother were rescued by the locals.
A huge fire broke out in Renigunta early in the morning. Two fire tenders rushed to the hospital and doused the fire. The fire broke out in Karthikeya Hospital, which was being constructed in Renigunta's Vasantha Nagar in the early hours of the morning.
In the massive fire accident, 3 people including two children died. Police and fire personnel reached the spot and doused the fire. The firefighting personnel shifted Bharat, 12, and Kartika, 15, to another hospital where they succumbed to burn injuries. The condition of the doctor's wife and mother is believed to be stable.

A police officer said they received the information about the fire in the wee hours on Sunday at around 4.50 AM. After the preliminary investigation, police suspect that short-circuit led to the fire. The actual cause of the fire will be known after detailed investigation, asserted police.
The first and the second floor of the Karthikeya hospital were caught ablaze and it was believed that victims, Dr Ravishankar Reddy, son Bharat and daughter Kartika, were caught in the hospital after the fire engulfed the building.
Earlier on Wednesday (September 21), a similar incident occurred as three persons were killed when a paper-plate manufacturing unit in Nellore was caught on fire. The fire engulfed the factory due short circuit at the manufacturing unit. Three persons were trapped inside the factory and died due to suffocation. The three deceased were identified as Bhaskar, Dhilli Babu and Balaji.
