New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the third phase of the YSR Cheytha scheme at Kuppam on Friday. Through the YSR Cheytha scheme, the state government aims to provide women belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class communities a cash assistance of Rs 18,750 per year, aggregating to Rs 75,000 in four years.


Addressing the gathering, CM Jagan announced an increase in the old age pension from Rs 2,500 per month to Rs 2,750 with effect from January. The CM also assured that he will fulfil the election promise of giving pension up to Rs. 3000.


For the third year in a row, CM Jagan said that more than 26 lakh beneficiaries are being provided with YSR Cheyutha scheme. For this year too, Rs. 4,949 crores have been deposited for the beneficiaries, he added.

CM Jagan further said that Rs 14,110 crores have been provided in the three years through YSR Cheyutha scheme and Rs 19,617 crores have been given to 44.50 lakh people through the Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme. He also said that Rs 12,758 crores were given to 78.74 lakh people through Asara Scheme and Rs 3,615 crores were given to beneficiaries under YSR Zero Interest Loan Scheme.


Hitting out at TDP cheif Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan called him "a non-local" because he lives in Hyderabad. He said, "Chandrababu has served as CM for 14 years, yet Kuppam has not undergone any progress. Kuppam is not about Chandrababu Naidu. Instead, it is all about the welfare and advancement of my brothers and sisters living here. Naidu could not even guarantee double-laned roads in the Kuppam municipal district."


The chief minister also appealed to the people to think about the difference between the previous and current regimes.
