Andhra Pradesh: CJI NV Ramana Takes Bullock Cart Ride During Visit To His Native Place

The CJI performed prayers at the local temple after a warm welcome by the the residents, district officials and public representatives.

Hyderabad: Chief Justice of India, Justice N.V. Ramana rode in a bullock cart during his visit to his native village Ponnavaram in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.

Villagers welcomed NV Ramana, who came to the village for the first time after assuming the office of the CJI in April this year. Justice NV Ramana and his wife rode in a bullock cart to the village from the outskirts.

The CJI performed prayers at the local temple after a warm welcome by the the residents, district officials and public representatives.

Andhra Pradesh Chief whip MLA Samineni Udayabhanu, High Court Registrar General AV Ravindrababu, Registrar Recruitment A Giridhar, Law Secretary V Sunita, Nandigama Additional District Judge B Srinivas, DIG Rajasekhar Babu and Women Welfare Commissioner Kritika Shukla were also present on the occasion. 

 

There was a joyous atmosphere in the village as many people were celebrating early Sankranti.

As part of the celebrations, folk artistes played traditional musical instruments and performed folk dances. The locals were overjoyed to see the son of the soil, who had risen to the highest rank in the judiciary, and hosted a civic reception in his honour.
