6 Burnt Alive In Bus-Truck Collision on Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway
In Andhra Pradesh, the severely injured were initially treated at a government hospital in Chilakaluripet and later transferred to Guntur for more advanced medical care.
Six people died and 32 others suffered injuries after a private travel bus collided head-on with a truck on Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway on Wednesday morning. The accident occurred near Chilakaluripet mandal as the bus was en route from Chinnaganjam in Bapatla district to Hyderabad.
According to eyewitnesses and injured survivours, the collision caused both vehicles to ignite almost instantaneously. There were 42 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. Among the deceased are both drivers and four passengers, all from Bapatla District.

The deceased persons was identified as Anji (35), the bus driver, hailing from Chirala, Bapatla District, Uppgundur Kashi (65), Uppugundur Lakshmi (55) and Mupparaju Khyati Saishri from Nilaipalem Village, Chinganjam Mandal, Bapatla District. However, authorities are yet to confirm the identities of the remaining two victims. The severely injured were initially treated at a government hospital in Chilakaluripet and later transferred to Guntur for more advanced medical care.
"We got the information through some people about the incident. We have alerted ambulances and fire tenders. When we reached the spot, the bus was engulfed in flames. We understand that six people died," a police official told TV channels, adding drivers of both the vehicles died, as per a report on PTI.
The police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer and state BJP chief D Purandeswari offered their condolences for the lives lost in the accident.
Offering condolences, the Governor instructed officials to provide better treatment for the injured persons.
