New Delhi: A person finally received a government job in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, but is on the verge of retirement. This came as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government finally decided to recruit teachers from the 1998 district selection committee (DSC) batch.

The Chief Minister signed the appointment file of the 1998 DSC batch last week. With this move, the dream of around 4,500 candidates to become teachers became a reality.

One of them is Allaka Kedareshwar Rao, a resident of Srikakulam. Rao, now 57, is going to receive the appointment letter after 24 years of appearing in the DSC examination in 1998.

Rao was fond of reading since childhood. He wanted to become a teacher and in view of the same he completed MA in English and also did B.Ed.

After unsuccessful attempts in 1994 and 1996, Rao passed the examination in 1998 but the process ran into controversies and the appointment was shelved.

He sleeps on an empty stomach on the days when there are no sales. He remained unmarried after the death of his parents as he had no job.

Rao has now become a center of attraction in the area as his dream of becoming a teacher has finally come true.
