Tallahassee [U.S.A], Feb 5 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump greeted college cheerleaders and a college band at a Super Bowl watch party on Sunday.
Trump and his first lady Melania hosted the party and watched the performances of Florida Atlantic University pep band and cheerleaders at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, reported The Hill.
The first couple spent the weekend at Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach city.
The band performed famous songs such as- "Hail to the Chief," "Boogie Wonderland" and "Shut Up and Dance".
"Thank you so much, that was so great, great job, great talent, enjoy the game," said a beaming Trump after the performance.
The Super Bowl final tourney comes at a time when Trump and the National Football League (NFL) are at loggerheads over the "kneeling controversy."
Trump has been criticising NFL players, who kneel during the national anthem as a protest against racism and police brutality in the US. He also slammed the NFL for allowing players to kneel and asked the team owners to take strict action against the players.
He also called on all players to stand during the national anthem.
The US President is known to be an ardent supporter of the New England Patriots team. He also shares a good bonhomie with its owner Robert Kraft and quarterback Tom Brady.
In the final match between Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles, no players knelt or sat during the national anthem as the Super Bowl kicked off at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Sunday.
The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the NFL, which is being played on the first Sunday in February every year. It was first played in 1967.
The game is extremely popular in the US. The Super Bowl has frequently been the most-watched American television broadcast of the year, recording an annual viewership of more than 100 million people.
There are around 30-32 teams participating in the Super Bowl.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have won six Super Bowls, the most of any team. The Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, and San Francisco 49ers have five victories each, while the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants have four Super Bowl championships.
Around 13 other NFL franchises have won at least one Super Bowl. Nine teams have appeared in Super Bowl matches without a win.
At the time of filing this report, the Eagles shocked five-time winners Patriots with a final score of 41-33 to win their first title in the final game of the 52nd edition of the Super Bowl match. (ANI)
