Washington D.C. [USA], Oct 26 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump has termed the production of the controversial Russia dossier a "disgrace" to Democrats, "sad commentary on politics" in the country.
Referring to the confirmation on reports about Democrats paying for the anti-Trump dossier, Trump told reporters that it was "sad" on their part.
According to Fox News, the controversial dossier, containing salacious and unsubstantiated allegations about Trump's ties to Russia, was bankrolled by Marc Elias, a lawyer representing the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Clinton campaign.
Fusion GPS, a political consulting firm, was paid in millions for hiring a former British intelligence officer, Christopher Steele to furnish information of Trump's alleged connections to Russia.
On the question of bearing responsibility for the current combative state of American politics, he said "politics is a rough business," adding that media worsens the situation, by tarnishing his image in the public eye with numerous "fake stories".
Trump said the press makes him "more uncivil than I am," adding that he is Ivy League-educated, was a good student and is "very intelligent."
In light of the recent vitriol against him by Senators Jeff Flake, Bob Corker and John McCain, Trump assured the Republican Party is still "unified".
He also reckoned that Corker will not block his tax reform proposals, predicting that "certain Democrats" will have to vote for tax cuts for businesses and the middle class or lose in 2018.
Targeting the former Obama administration, President Trump said that he has been more effective in combating terrorism.
Asserting that the ISIS is being "decimated," Trump said, "It's a tough war, but we are winning it."
He also praised the generals and military, saying that they "have decision-making ability" when it comes to tackling ISIS. (ANI)
