Paris [France], May 13 (ANI): In a recent development, it has emerged that the person, who carried out Saturday night's Paris knife attack, was on a police anti-terror watch list of people suspected of having radicalized views and posing a potential security risk.

The attacker who was born in Russia's Chechnya region did not have a criminal record, CNN quoted a judicial source, as saying.

The attacker was shot dead by the police after he killed one person and managed to injure four others near the Palais Garnier opera house in the Second Arrondissement.

According to Parisian police, two of the injured are in critical condition.

The ISIS claimed the responsibility on social media and stated "carried out the operation in response to calls targeting the coalition countries".

Citing local media reports, nydailynews.com stated that the attacker, a north-African man in his mid-twenties, shouted "Allahu Akbar" while carrying out the attack.

The attacker's mother and father are in police custody for questioning. (ANI)
