Pak NSA criticizes US stance on Kashmir, counter-terrorism

Islamabad [Pakistan], Dec.18 (ANI): Pakistan's National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retired) Nasir Janjua on Monday appeared to be criticizing the United States of America on its stance on Kashmir as well as its lack of support and acknowledgement to and of Islamabad's counter-terrorism efforts.

Geo TV quoted Lt. Gen. Janjau, as saying that Washington has been and is following the Indian policy line on the Kashmir dispute.

Speaking at a seminar on national security policy, Lt. Gen. Janjua all said that Washington and other countries are ignoring the fact that Pakistan has given most human and economic sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

He also claimed that insurgents and not freedom fighters are operating in Balochistan and their aggression has been successfully quelled. He even said that some of these insurgents were now swearing fealty to Pakistan.

Lt. Gen. Janjua was also critical of the United States' support to India in Afghanistan's political process, and its opposition to the over USD 60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He said that terrorism in Pakistan had emerged after the country decided to support US and the West.

"Security in South Asia is under pressure," he said. (AN with inputs)
