Police has not yet confirmed the total number of people killed in the attacks and an official confirmation of the death toll is still awaited.

New Zealand police say they have defused a number of improvised explosive devices found on vehicles after mosque shootings, reported news agency Associated Press.

There was no official information on casualties but the New Zealand Herald said at least one person was killed. ESPN Cricinfo reporter Mohammed Isam said members of the Bangladesh cricket team, who are due to play a Test match in Christchurch tomorrow escaped from the mosque.
