New Delhi [India], October 4 (ANI): Bibi Russell, internationally acclaimed fashion designer from Bangladesh, will be presenting Rajasthan Khadi in the upcoming season of India Runway Week Winter/Festive 2017 here.

The highlight of the show will be the designs, made with 100 percent Khadi, by skilled weavers of Bikaner and it will be a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The show has been curated by Russell, who will also be presenting her collection for the second time at India Runway Week.

Speaking on the same, she said "I want to explore the diversity of the fabric and contextualize it in today's world. The idea of presenting Rajasthan Khadi is to get the younger generation to appreciate their countryman's produce."

It is said that Rajasthan Khadi and Village Industries Board is setting an example by creating new opportunities and making it profitable for weavers by giving them a definitive source of employment while making the best use of available resources.

Avinash Pathania, founder, Indian Federation for Fashion Development, stated, "Associating with Rajasthan Khadi for one of the show at the India Runway Week Winter festive 2017 is in continuation of our commitment to promote weavers of India. Khadiis hidden wonders will be unveiled by Bibi Russell, who will translate its story through the magnificent swirls of fabric,"

"It's a great pleasure to get associated with one of the biggest fashion platform in India and showcase my collection in front of these young talented designers. My collection is 100 percent Khadi made by the incredible weavers of Bikaner and it's a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. I made this collection in Rajasthan on the invitation of government of Rajasthan," Bibi Russell said in a statement.

The three-day event will be held from October 6 to October 8 at the DLF Place, Saket, New Delhi. (ANI)
