Washington DC [United States], Mar 18 (ANI): Former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director James Comey has hit back at United States President Donald Trump, saying that Americans can judge for themselves who is honorable in the government.
Hours after FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was sacked, Comey tweeted, "Mr. President, the American people will hear my story very soon. And they can judge for themselves who is honorable and who is not," Comey tweeted on Saturday."
Comey, who was fired last year by President Trump, has a hush-hush memoir coming out on April 17 - 'A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership'. It is expected that Comey will use his book to refute President Trump's attack on the FBI.
Earlier on Saturday, the US Justice Department dismissed McCabe on the grounds of lying to the investigators, reviewing the probe of former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's email server case.
The US President hailed the decision of firing the FBI deputy director, calling it a "great day for democracy". He also blamed Comey and McCabe for the laxity in the FBI investigation regarding Clintons' mail server.
"Andrew McCabe FIRED, a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI - A great day for Democracy. Sanctimonious James Comey was his boss and made McCabe look like a choirboy. He knew all about the lies and corruption going on at the highest levels of the FBI!" Trump tweeted.(ANI)
