New Delhi [India] Mar 17 (ANI): A festival is being organised in New Delhi to witness Sindhi culture, its, dance and music.

The Chetichand festival is celebrated by the Sindhi's to mark the beginning of New Year for the Sindhi Hindus.

This festival marks the arrival of spring and harvest but in Sindhi community it also marks the mythical birth of Uderlol.

On this day, many Sindhis take Baharana Sahib to a nearby river or lake. Baharana Sahib consists of Jyot (oil lamp), Misiri (crystal Sugar), Fota (cardamom), Fal (fruits), and Akha.

The event will be inaugurated by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

The guests of honour are Speaker, Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Ram Niwas Goel and Chairperson, Sindhi Academy, Mohini Hingorani.

The evening will be full of performances by Sindhi singers Anil Bhagat, Hema Durgani and Luxmi Bajaj.

Mohit Lalwani of Indian Idol 4 fame will also please the crowd with his vocals. Along with this, the event is set to have a standup comedy by Shankar Mulwani and a dance performance by Bhawna Dance group.

The event is being organised by the Sindhi Academy, Department of Art, Culture, and Languages, Government of Delhi on March 18 from 6:00 pm onwards at Dilli Haat, Pitampura. (ANI)
