Los Angeles [USA], August 6 (ANI): Emmy-nominated actress Carrie Coon is heading back to the New York stage.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the breakout star of HBO's 'The Leftovers' and FX's 'Fargo', who is currently in the running for an Emmy for the latter as lead actress in a limited series or movie, will head the cast of Amy Herzog's new play, 'Mary Jane'.

Coon will star as a determined single mother navigating the challenges of caring for a chronically ill child during a rain-drenched New York City summer.

The all-female cast also includes Liza Colon-Zayas, Danaya Esperanza, Susan Pourfar and Brenda Wehle.

The limited engagement begins previews September 6 and officially opens September 25 at off-Broadway's New York Theatre Workshop, running through October 15.

Anne Kauffman, who previously staged Herzog's Belleville at the same address, will direct 'Mary Jane', which had its world premiere in May at Yale Repertory Theatre with a different cast.

On the big screen, Coon first came to attention in David Fincher's 'Gone Girl'. She will next be seen in Steven Spielberg's 'The Papers' starring opposite Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. (ANI)
