Tips To Take Care Of Your Eyes During Winter

Winters leave our eyes more vulnerable than summers.

The primary reason behind this is the fact that the Sun is at a different angle to the earth, hence we are more exposed to glare and UV rays.

Corneal Damage, Cataracts and Macular Degeneration are all possible chronic effects from UV exposure.

UV damage induces dryness, wrinkles, accentuated skin, furrows, sagging, loss of elasticity and mottled pigmentation.

The front surface of the eye absorbs 99 percent of the UV radiation.

Here are some tips to protect your eyes during winters:

1. Hooded jackets or brimmed caps tend to protect the tear film from evaporation during the winter months.

2. To protect the delicate region, apply a good quality eye cream around the eyes.

3. Eating right is vital for the eyes. Include carrots, fish oil and green leafy vegetables in your diet.

4. Wear Sunglasses as they protect our eyes from the UV rays and help in preventing drying of the eyes.

5. To prevent eye-strain, taking tiny breaks from the computer screen at regular intervals is beneficial to the eyes in the long run.
