'It's Murder': Protests & Grief As 3 Students Killed In Flooding At Delhi Coaching Centre



The basement of a coaching centre in central Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar area got flooded on Saturday night after heavy rains reportedly caused a drain to burst.



The bodies of two female students and a male student have been retrieved from the site after a seven-hour operation by the NDRF.



After the deaths, several students held a protest outside the coaching centre, and raised slogans against the authorities.

The building’s NOC from the fire department reportedly listed the basement as a store room. The owner has been accused of violating safety norms by using it as a library/classroom.



The family of Shreya Yadav, one of the deceased students, said they tried to contact her after finding out about the incident through the news, but couldn’t reach her.



AAP MP Swati Maliwal, who was part of the protests, said the incident was not a natural calamity but murder.



Students protest against the flooding incident, which has also triggered a political blame game.



Amid the student protests, police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have been deployed outside the coaching centre.
