What Is The Best Recommended Diet For IBS And Which Food Items Should Be Avoided

1. High-fibre diet: Increasing fibre can help with IBS, especially constipation. Balance is key, as too much fibre can worsen symptoms.

2. Low-FODMAP diet: Avoiding high-FODMAP foods can relieve IBS symptoms triggered by certain carbohydrates. This diet is typically done under medical guidance.

3. Probiotics: Good bacteria can restore gut balance and manage IBS symptoms. They're found in foods like yoghurt, sauerkraut, and supplements.

4. Regularly consuming well-balanced meals: This can aid in symptom minimization and digestive regulation. Irregular eating patterns or missing meals can occasionally make IBS symptoms worse.

Additionally, those who have IBS should consume a lot of oats, such as porridge, and up to one teaspoon of seeds, particularly ground flaxseed and chia seeds.

Food items that should be avoided are:

1. Eating spicy food can irritate their digestive tract and cause symptoms including diarrhoea and stomach pain.

2. Fried and fatty foods can be more difficult to digest and exacerbate IBS symptoms, especially diarrhoea.

3. Carbonated drinks should be avoided, as some people with IBS may experience bloating and gas from carbonated drinks.

4. Large meals might strain the digestive tract further and cause symptoms in certain IBS sufferers. Alternatively, it can be advantageous to consume smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day.

5. Avoid foods that are hard to digest, such as cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, sprouts, beans, and onions; avoid products containing sweeteners.

6. Milk, foods containing fructose, carbohydrate beverages, caffeine, and sugar-free chewing gum are the things that should be avoided.
