TOP NEWS: Modi cabinet gives green signal to bill restoring original provisions of SC/ST act
Prime Minister Narendra Modi government has decided to introduce in Parliament a bill restoring the original provisions of the anti-discrimination law in which the Supreme Court had ordered changes, a source told The Indian Express on Wednesday.
The Union Cabinet has already given its approval for the bill, which seeks to restore provisions that are meant to prevent discrimination against Dalits, scheduled castes and tribes. The clearing of the provisions comes a week ahead of a nationwide protest that Dalit groups have called for on August 9.
