This year, winter rains have remained almost absent from entire Northwest India. As a result, northwestern plains are at present rain deficient.
Usually, with the approach of an active Western Disturbance, rains occur over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. However, this year, due to less number of active Western Disturbances, no significant circulation has formed over Haryana and Rajasthan so far. The result is dry and warm weather over entire region.
