Instances of cancer are still commonplace in Rajasthan's Pokhran after forty years of nuclear test. After the explosion in 1974, around 25 rain water tanks and two wells in the village were all damaged and broken.
Around 5,000 people live in Khetolai village, which lies some three-odd kilometers from the spot where the government tested its second nuclear bomb in 1998, and about 10 kilometres from where the first bomb was tested in 1974.
