The rice exporters of India are troubled by the growing tension between the US and Iran as their rice is largely exported to Iran. The cut in export would lead to an increase in supply of rice, here, in turn leading to a decrease in the prices. The price of Basmati rice has also decreased from Rs 110 to Rs 95 in two days. The price of this variety has come down from Rs. 3050 per quintal to Rs. 2900 per quintal.
The relationship between the two countries worsened since the death of Iran's General Qasim Sulemani in the US drone strike in Iraq's capital Baghdad on Friday last week.
