View In AppUnion Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met President Droupadi Murmu ahead of presenting the Union Budget 2024 in Parliament, as per tradition, on July 23. President Murmu offered ‘Dahi-Cheeni’ to Nirmala Sitharaman before the budget presentation. Sitharaman is set to make history on Tuesday by presenting her seventh consecutive budget for the fiscal year 2024-25. With this, she will surpass the record of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai. However, the record for the most budget presentations still belongs to Desai. Sitharaman, who will turn 65 next month, was appointed India's first full-time female Finance Minister in 2019. Since then, she has presented six consecutive budgets, including an interim budget in February this year. The full budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 will be her seventh consecutive budget. She will surpass Desai's record of presenting five consecutive full budgets and one interim budget between 1959 and 1964.
