View In AppPolitical activity is intensifying in Maharashtra ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. The Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) has yet to finalize a candidate for the Chief Minister position. However, leaders from Shiv Sena (UBT) have consistently suggested that Uddhav Thackeray is a prime contender for the role. In response, Uddhav Thackeray has clarified his stance on the Chief Minister position. Speaking at a conference in Kopargaon, Ahmednagar on Sunday, September 15, former Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray stated, "I am not dreaming of becoming Chief Minister; I never have and I do not now." This statement aims to dispel any rumors or expectations regarding his ambition for the top political role in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut had previously remarked that Uddhav Thackeray never expressed a desire to become Chief Minister. Raut suggested that if Congress or NCP (SP) had a candidate for the position, they should present it, and Thackeray would support that candidate. Raut emphasized that Thackeray remains beloved by the people of Maharashtra. Earlier this month, Raut had responded to comments by Sharad Pawar about the Chief Minister position, agreeing with Pawar that a decision would be made post-election. He reiterated that the priority is to remove the current corrupt government and that discussions about the Chief Minister position can happen later. The Maharashtra Assembly's term is set to end this year, and while the Election Commission has yet to announce the election schedule, polls are expected in November.
