Other Akali Dal leaders, including Daljit Singh Cheema, Bikram Singh Majithia, and Maheshinder Singh Grewal, have been assigned a religious punishment, which involved cleaning toilets at the Golden Temple. This punishment was issued by the Sri Akal Takht Sahib, considered the supreme religious authority of the Sikh community. The leaders were penalized for religious mistakes during the period of the Akali Dal government from 2007 to 2017, particularly for alleged leniency toward Gurmeet Ram Rahim and the controversy surrounding his attire. They were also accused of mishandling complaints related to blasphemy.
