Sakshi Maharaj's controversial remarks escalate politics

Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Unnao, Sakshi Maharaj, known for his controversial remarks, has now said that "as there are more Muslims in India than in Pakistan, their minority status should be abolished".

Sakshi was addressing a function in Unnao on Saturday.

Shashi Tharoor tweeted, "Of course I’ll be accused of elitism & pseudo-intellectual sneering, but can it be mere coincidence that the less people read, the lower literacy & social development they enjoy & the more they practice untouchability, the more they are inclined to vote for the BJP!?"
