Lok Sabha Speaker Poll: BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has declared Om Birla as its candidate for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. Birla will file nomination in this regard on Tuesday (June 25, 2024). Before the commencement of Lok Sabha proceedings, Om Birla met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh contacted opposition parties as part of the ruling NDA's efforts to build a consensus on the name of the Lok Sabha Speaker. At the same time, talks are still going on regarding the post of Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha.
