At the Paris Paralympics, India's athletes delivered a remarkable performance in the men's club throw F51 event, securing both gold and silver medals. Dharambir set a new Asian record with a throw of 34.92 meters on his fifth attempt to win gold, while Pranav Soorma claimed silver with a throw of 34.59 meters on his first attempt, which he couldn't improve upon later. Serbia's Filip Graovac earned the bronze with a throw of 34.18 meters on his second attempt. This success has propelled India to 13th place in the Paralympics standings, with a total of 24 medals won so far. Dharambir's gold makes him the fifth Indian to achieve this feat, and Soorma's silver adds to India's tally of nine silver medals in Paris. Amit Kumar Saroha, a mentor to Dharambir and the 2017 world championship silver medalist, also competed but finished last with a throw of 23.96 meters. The F51 event is designed for athletes with significant impairments in their trunk, legs, and arms, requiring them to compete seated and use their shoulders and arms to generate power.
