Imran Khan, Pakistan's prime minister, lost a critical trust vote in the National Assembly shortly after midnight, becoming the country's first prime minister to be removed by a no-confidence vote. Khan, who is 69 years old, was not present at the time of the voting in the lower house. A walkout was organised by members of his party. The unified Opposition gained 174 votes in the 342-member National Assembly, surpassing the minimum 172 votes to depose the prime minister on a day marked by drama and several adjournments in the lower house.
