Naugam Blast: SDRF Begins Clearance as DGP to Brief on Cause and Casualties at 10 AM
A tense atmosphere prevails around Srinagar’s Naugam Police Station after Friday night’s powerful blast that completely brought down the building during the sampling of seized explosives. SDRF teams have now reached the site and begun the process of sanitising the area to ensure no unexploded material remains. Only after the spot is declared safe will the slabs be removed to check if anyone is trapped under the debris. Officials confirm that the explosion occurred while testing over 350 kg of explosive samples linked to the white-collar terror module case. However, clarity on who exactly was inside the room during the incident will come after J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat 10 AM press briefing. He is expected to detail the sequence of events, presence of officers, adherence to SOPs, and the preliminary cause of the detonation. Meanwhile, heavy deployment of police, SDRF, and civil defence teams continues as nearby residents remain worried amid ongoing rescue and investigation efforts.
