Monumental Day for India: Subhanshu Shukla Becomes First Indian in 40 Years to Head to Space Station | ABP NEWS

ABP News Bureau   |  25 Jun 2025 11:31 AM (IST)

Today marks a historic day for India as Subhanshu Shukla, a pilot and space traveler from Lucknow, embarks on a 14-day mission to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. Launching at 12:01 PM, Subhanshu is part of Axiom Mission 4 and will travel in the Dragon capsule—becoming the first Indian in four decades to reach the ISS. This mission rekindles memories of Rakesh Sharma, who made history in 1984 as the first Indian in space. Subhanshu, now carrying the Indian tricolor into orbit, will reach the ISS after a 28-hour journey. He has undergone intense training over the past year, with his health and fitness being closely monitored. His family, including his mother and sister, shared their pride and emotional moments as Subhanshu called them for blessings before departure. Despite previous delays, today’s successful launch has brought immense joy and pride to the nation. Millions of Indians are watching with hope and pride as one of their own steps into space once again—marking the beginning of a new era in India's space journey.
