View In AppThe mortal remains of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have reached Nigambodh Ghat. Prime Minister Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Home Minister Amit Shah are present to pay their respects. Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92 on Thursday night at AIIMS. The Ministry of Home Affairs announced that the government has decided to conduct his last rites with full state honors. The Ministry of Defence has been requested to ensure the last rites are carried out with full military honors. Prior to this, his body was kept at the Congress office for public viewing. Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs informed that the government will allocate a place for a memorial dedicated to the late Prime Minister and has already informed his family and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. In fact, Kharge had called Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah, requesting that a place be designated for Manmohan Singh's memorial. The Ministry stated that it received the request from Congress President Kharge, and after a Cabinet meeting, Home Minister Amit Shah informed Kharge and Singh’s family that the government would allocate a site for the memorial. The Ministry also mentioned that a trust will be formed, and the location will be finalized soon.
