Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his Shiv Sena party, buoyed by the success of the India Alliance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, have intensified preparations for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Thackeray has laid out two distinct strategies, labeled 'Plan A' and 'Plan B', in pursuit of victory. Under 'Plan A', the focus remains on contesting the elections in alliance with the Mahavikas Aghadi, alongside Congress and Sharad Pawar's NCP. This coalition proved successful in the recent national elections, prompting Thackeray to reaffirm its efficacy in the state context. In the eventuality of further coalition discussions, Thackeray is also prepared to adopt 'Plan B', akin to the strategy employed in the 2019 elections. During those polls, Thackeray contested 22 Lok Sabha seats and aimed for traditional strongholds in the state Assembly across 124 constituencies. This time around, the Shiv Sena leader plans to contest 21 seats in partnership with the alliance, with an eye on securing victories on 9 additional seats. As Maharashtra braces for the Assembly elections, the dynamics suggest a potential seat allocation ranging between 114 to 124 constituencies, reflecting Thackeray's strategic maneuvering to consolidate political gains and fortify Shiv Sena's electoral footprint.
