Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexual abuse, trails in Hassan constituency. Hassan has historically been a stronghold of the JD(S), often dubbed the 'Republic of JDS', due to the steadfast backing of the Vokkaliga community for the Gowda family. Former CM Deve Gowda's rival late Minister G. Puttaswamy Gowda's grandson, 31-year-old Shreyas M. Patel, is contesting against Prajwal Revanna in this election. Patel, who narrowly missed winning the Holenarsipur Assembly seat against Prajwal's father, H.D. Revanna, by 3,152 votes in the previous year, is now setting his sights on securing victory at the national parliamentary level. According to the Election Commission of India, Congress candidate Shreyas Patel secured 655319 votes and was leading by 39443 votes.
