View In AppPolice officials reported that, based on intelligence inputs, security forces conducted a search operation in the Naidgham area of Chhatru. During the operation, terrorists who were lying in wait opened fire as the security forces arrived. In response, the security forces engaged in retaliatory firing. This incident occurred amid heightened security measures and searches across the region in preparation for the Prime Minister's visit. In a notable development in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces achieved a significant victory in Baramulla on Saturday, September 14, 2024. According to local police, a coordinated operation by the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir police led to the elimination of three militants. The operation, which commenced late on the night of September 13 and continued overnight, was initiated based on intelligence suggesting the presence of terrorists in the area. It unfolded in the Chack Tappar Kriyari region of Baramulla, where there were intense exchanges of fire between the militants and the security forces. While the immediate goal has been accomplished, the operation is ongoing due to reports of two to three more militants potentially being concealed in the area. This success provides a measure of relief following a tragic incident in Kishtwar, where an encounter on Friday led to the deaths of two soldiers, including Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Naib Subedar Vipin Kumar and Soldier Arvind Singh. The clash in the Pingnal Dugadda forest area of Chhatru police station also resulted in injuries to four soldiers, with two later dying from their wounds. These recent achievements underscore the security forces' continued commitment to tackling militancy in the region.
