According to the police, the accused in the Gorakhnath temple attack, Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi, has stated that his animosity stems from 'atrocities' done against Muslims. Murtaza, an IIT graduate, confessed to going to Gorakhnath temple because police officers were frequently stationed there and he intended to flee after attacking them.
