View In AppAuthorities in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are on high alert as Cyclone Fengal nears the coast, with landfall anticipated near Puducherry on Saturday afternoon, November 30. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast wind speeds of 70-90 kmph, accompanied by heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in coastal and interior areas of Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh. The Puducherry district administration has advised residents to remain indoors, and all schools and colleges in the region have been closed for the day. In Tamil Nadu, over 4,150 fishing boats have been brought to shore, and 2,229 relief camps are prepared to house evacuees. So far, 471 individuals from 164 families have been relocated to six relief centers in Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts. Disaster response teams, including those from the National and State Disaster Response Forces, have been deployed to vulnerable areas like Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, and Chennai.
