Devotees take holy dip in Ganga at Haridwar’s Har Ki Pauri ghat on 2nd Monday of ‘Sawan’

View In AppHaridwar (Uttarakhand), July 29 (ANI): Devotees took a holy dip in river Ganga at Haridwar’s Har Ki Pauri ghat and offered prayers on the occasion of the second Monday of the holy month of ‘Sawan’. Monday is devoted to Lord Shiva, and it is regarded as particularly auspicious when it occurs during the month of Sawan. ‘Sawan’ is one of the most holy months for the followers of Lord Shiva all over the world. The onset of the ‘Sawan’ month is generally in late July and lasts till the end of August every year. Speaking about the occasion, a devotee said, “Coming to ‘Har Ki Pauri’ and taking holy dip is a matter of great fortune. May the blessings of Mahadev be bestowed upon the world….” Another devotee said, “I embarked on Kanwar Yatra for the 3rd time after 5 years. I am having a great time…. I prayed for the well-being of my family and growth and improvement of India. I want to appeal to the government to declare ‘Gau Mata’ as our national animal.”
