View In AppSolicitor General Tushar Mehta on Friday again appealed to the apex court that there is no such precedent of allowing interim release for the purpose of election campaign. However, the top court did not budge to any of ED's arguments and said it can present its a case against him when the next hearing comes on petition challenging his arrest by the ED.
Justice Khanna observed that "21 days will not make any difference. Let us not draw parallels with any other case. ECIR was registered in 2022. He was arrested in March 2024...For 1.5 years he was there...he could have been arrested before or after also. Whatever it is... 21 days here or there should not make any difference."
