After Nepal, a wave of anti-government demonstrations has now reached Morocco, where large-scale protests have broken out against the authorities. The movement is being driven primarily by the youth, who are expressing anger over governance issues and demanding political and social reforms.According to reports, protesters have set fire to cars, bikes, and even government offices in different parts of the country, creating scenes of chaos and tension. Security forces were immediately deployed in large numbers, with 263 personnel currently on duty to manage the unrest. Despite heavy security arrangements, violence erupted, leaving 23 civilians injured during the clashes. The protests also caused severe damage to public property, with 142 police vehicles reported to have been deployed to manage the unrest. In the aftermath of the disturbances, Moroccan authorities have arrested 409 demonstrators involved in the violence and arson. These protests highlight growing frustration among sections of the Moroccan population, particularly the youth, over governance and socio-economic challenges. The government now faces the critical task of restoring order while also addressing the demands that have fueled such large-scale demonstrations.
