The meeting aims to address the concerns of the medical community following the brutal rape and murder of a female trainee doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital.
In a decisive action, the Calcutta High Court has taken a firm stance on the Kolkata 'Nirbhaya' case, ordering the police to present the case diary by 1 PM. The court stressed the importance of acknowledging the feelings of the protesting doctors, noting, "One of their colleagues has been brutally murdered." This move comes amidst increasing demands for a CBI investigation and continued protests by resident doctors seeking justice for the victim, a trainee doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital. During the hearing, the court admitted a petition from the victim's family calling for a court-monitored investigation due to concerns over the current probe. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has stated that the case will be handed to the CBI if significant progress is not made by Sunday
