View In AppOn the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, celebrated across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the soldiers on Friday (July 26, 2024). He emphasized that the day serves as a reminder that sacrifices made for the nation are immortal. Even as centuries pass, the names of those who risked their lives for national defense remain etched in history. He acknowledged that the country is indebted to the valiant heroes of the army. PM Modi recalled his experience during the Kargil War, describing it as a privilege to have been among the soldiers as a common citizen. He remembered the arduous operations executed by the army at such high altitudes. The victory in Kargil was not just a military achievement but also a testament to the values of truth, patience, and capability. While India sought peace at that time, Pakistan showed its unreliable face once again. However, falsehood and terrorism were defeated. Despite numerous attempts to undermine India, Pakistan has failed to learn from its history. Modi also spoke about India's growing identity as an exporter. He highlighted that the military has created a list of over 5,000 items that will no longer be imported, reflecting a significant shift in the defense sector. He cited recent bold reforms, including the Agnipath Scheme, aimed at modernizing and rejuvenating the armed forces. Modi criticized those who politicized important national security issues, pointing out that such individuals had previously weakened the military through corruption and attempts to deprive the Air Force of fighter jets. He affirmed that the Agnipath Scheme will enhance the nation's strength and encourage more youth to serve the country.
