View In AppThe seat-sharing formula between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections is reportedly nearing finalization. According to sources, a late-night meeting at Union Home Minister Amit Shah's residence established the number of seats AJSU will contest, which is expected to be around 11. However, specific details about the constituencies have not yet been disclosed, with an official announcement anticipated in the next few days. In the previous 2019 elections, BJP and AJSU contested separately due to disagreements over seat allocations, resulting in AJSU fielding candidates in 52 constituencies, which ultimately did not favor either party. This led to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha forming the government and relegating BJP to opposition status. Learning from this experience, both parties joined forces for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where they achieved notable success—BJP secured eight out of 13 seats, while AJSU won one. Currently, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, with Congress and RJD as allies, governs the state. To regain power, BJP is intensifying its efforts, conducting rallies in the state, and consistently criticizing the Hemant Soren government, focusing on issues such as tribal safety and illegal immigration.
