Bihar Elections: RJD’s Khesari Lal Yadav Slams Giriraj Singh’s Burqa Remark, Bats for Unity

ABP News Bureau   |  06 Nov 2025 02:33 PM (IST)

RJD candidate and Bhojpuri actor Khesari Lal Yadav strongly condemned Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s controversial statement suggesting that women wearing burqas should be checked at polling booths. Speaking during his campaign, Khesari said such comments insult women and have no place in a civilized society. “If anyone were to lift the veil of a woman in the name of checking, would that be right? Even in our Hindu traditions, the practice of ‘ghunghat’ existed should someone lift that too?” he questioned, calling Giriraj Singh’s remarks divisive and politically motivated. Khesari emphasized that his focus is on Bihar’s development, youth employment, and social harmony, not communal politics. He said the state’s young generation wants to live with dignity, work near their families, and contribute to Bihar’s progress. “When you have a big vision for your state, small sacrifices are worth it,” he added. He also spoke about the need for long-term social reform and criticized leaders who thrive on creating division. Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s appeal to Generation Z voters, Khesari said that in democracy, it is the people who decide leadership — whether a politician’s child becomes a leader or not depends solely on public trust.
