On March 16, Bhagwant Mann, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab in Khatkar Kalan, Bhagat Singh's ancestral village. He is the state's first non-Akali, non-Congress chief executive. Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered Mann's oath of office and secrecy in front of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other senior AAP leaders.
