View In AppThe Bombay High Court expressed grave concerns over school safety on Thursday, emphasising that discussions on the right to education are meaningless if schools are unsafe. Justice Mohite-Dere highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that even young girls are not spared from harm. This came as the court reviewed the case of two minors allegedly sexually assaulted at a school in Badlapur. The court criticised the Badlapur police for delays in recording statements.
Advocate General Birendra Saraf assured the court that the state government is committed to safeguarding children and has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for a thorough and prompt investigation. The court has requested an affidavit detailing the actions of the Badlapur police before the case was handed over to the SIT. The next hearing is scheduled for August 27.
