It was through these sacrifices that India gained independence from British rule on August 15, 1947. Speaking from the Red Fort on India's 78th Independence Day, PM Modi acknowledged that the dreams of the people remained unfulfilled. He emphasized that the government chose reforms not for applause but to strengthen the nation.
