View In AppIn an effort to raise voter awareness the Chief Electoral Officer of Himachal Pradesh flagged off a cycling expedition from Shimla to Tashigang in the Kinnaur district. According to poll officials, Tashigang is the highest polling station in the world, located at an altitude of 15,256 feet.
A team led by Jaspreet Pal, a renowned cyclist from the Mandi District will cover a distance of over 400 kilometres with an aim to encourage people along the route to come out and cast their vote on polling day.
The cyclists will cover a distance of exactly 414 kilometres to reach Tashigang, according to the State's Chief Electoral Officer. This number coincides with the number of polling booths that the Election Commission wishes to focus on, in order to boost the overall voting percentage in the state. All 4 Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh will vote on June 1st in the 7th and final phase of the 2024 General Election.
