View In AppVoting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly got underway on Saturday, an election that saw the ruling AAP, opposition BJP and the Congress engaged in a bitterly fought high-octane campaign.
Part of the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency, the largely affluent area of Model Town is witnessing a triangular contest as the Congress will look to wrest its former stronghold from the AAP and deny BJP the chance to regain the seat for the first time after the 1993 polls.
The AAP has renominated Akhilesh Pati Tripathi to fight from the seat. He will be up against controversial former AAP MLA Kapil Mishra, who is contesting on a BJP ticket
Kapil Mishra is a former MLA represented Karawal Nagar in the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi. He had won the elections as an AAP candidate from Karawal Nagar assembly. As many as 13,571 polling stations have been created at 2,688 locations across the city.
