The historic Pink ball Test match will be played in Kolkata from November 22nd and hundreds of artisans are working for hours to deliver balls that has been ordered by BCCI .
( BCCI ordered 72 balls from the Meerut based manufacturing company SG )
International matches are played in India with the SG Test balls ( Red ) .. For the first time SG will produce Pink balls .
It is not only change in colour . The manufacturing process and quality also changes with the change in colour .To make a red ball it just takes 2 days , for a pink ball it takes 8 days .
In case of Red balls simply the dyed leather is cut into four pieces and later stitched with the hard round shaped wood inside . The process takes two days .
In case of a pink ball the dyed leather initially is very bleak in color and as a result after making the ball the leather needs more pigmentation . This process takes another 6 days . There are several coats of pigmentation which finally makes the ball visible at night under the floodlights . As a result the pink ball is more shiny in nature than the red one and the polish remains for longer duration . Thus it swings and skids more.
